The Bachelor of Information Management (BIM) is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program offered by the Faculty of Management at Tribhuvan University.

With a blend of Information Technology (IT) and Business Management, students can hone their IT knowledge while learning the policies and management side of business.

This program is a 124 credit system program, enacted through semester system and evaluation done through letter grading system.

Objectives of the program

This program aims to produce proficient and capable professionals with cognitive and intelligible traits that can adapt to any job and career situations. The specific objectives of this program are as follows: 

  1. To produce IT professionals that are proficiently use computers and computational techniques to create effective information systems that address real-world problems within an organizational context.
  2. To enhance student’s skills in object-oriented software design methods and data management systems
  3. To provide professional training that combines information technology with managerial skills
  4. To prepare students for postgraduate studies in information management, both domestically and internationally

Eligibility for admission

The following procedure must be followed by students who are applying for admission to the BIM program.

  1. To be eligible for the BIM program, students must have completed their +2 level or equivalent from a university or board recognized by Tribhuvan University.
  2. Students are encouraged to aim to earn a second division or better at the +2 level or equivalent. Since,, it is common for colleges to prioritize enrolling students who have achieved a first division.
  3. Students must follow all application procedures and guidelines for the entrance examination.

Admission Criteria for BIM

Students must appear in CMAT exams conducted by Faculty of Management of Tribhuvan University to be be able to join BIM program. In CMAT exams, 100 objective questions will be asked that will cover area such as

  1. Verbal Ability
  2. Quantitative Ability
  3. Logical Reasoning
  4. General Awareness 


The exam will be of 90 minutes and to be eligible for the BIM program, students must score at least 40%.


After the results has been published by TU, students can apply to their desired colleges. Then, the colleges will start their own selection process and short-list the candidates for interview. 


The admission to a college will be solely based on the merit list, which is determined by following factors:

  1. 60 marks from the CMAT entrance examination
  2. 30 marks based on the percentage of marks earned at the +2 equivalent level
  3. 10 marks from the interview


Those students with highest merit list will be chosen for admission and will be considered for scholarship.

Fee Structure of BIM in Nepal

The cost of a Bachelor of Information Management (BIM) program can vary significantly depending on factors such as the management and government quotas of the colleges, as well as an individual student's marks in their high school exams and entrance exams. 


On average, the cost of the BIM curriculum ranges from NR. 55,500 - 65,000 per semester.


However, the overall cost of the program can range from around 4 Lakhs - 6 Lakhs over the course of four years, depending on the specific college.

BIM Credit Transfer & Withdrawal 

Students can transfer their credits from the BIM program to similar programs by other universities recognized by Tribhuvan University.


A student who has only completed the course partially can also withdraw from the BIM course.


They will receive a certificate indicating how many credits they have earned during the program.


These credit can to be transferred to another university degree of similar level within or outside the country.
